The 2022 Jeep Wrangler 4xe is the electrified version of the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, the longer-wheelbase, 4-door Wrangler introduced in 2006. Jeep's engineers and designers have outdone themselves in creating what is the first electrified open-air SUV (with removable top and doors) and so much more.

PHEV, A Different Kind of Hybrid

PHEV means Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicle. It runs on gasoline and on electricity. Unlike first generation hybrids, it recharges via charging station or via its gasoline motor (which is larger than in an ordinary hybrid). Plus, regenerative braking helps charge the battery even while in motion. Its battery is larger than in an ordinary hybrid, but smaller than in a "pure" electric-only vehicle.

This all enables the Wrangler 4xe to deliver 375 horsepower for acceleration and 470 lb.-ft. of torque (enough for rock-crawling, and it's the first PHEV with locking front and rear differentials). There's no compromise in the vehicle's legendary capability, on or off the road.

It also delivers plenty of range (370 miles) along with freedom from dependence on charging stations -- although Jeep is building solar-powered charging stations on popular Jeep trails, and you'll be surprised at how easily and affordably a charging station can be professionally installed in your own garage (plus, there are government incentives to doing so). Jeep's Level II Home Charging Station charges up to six times faster, and is even remotely manageable via your smartphone.
